Designing the stone is the motivating maxim in the Munsteiner studio. The major focus lies in the modern shaping of diverse colored gemstones. This has already gained international recognition and won several awards.

Expertly selected minerals are turned into valuable unique object d’art by means of new cutting styles. Beryl, Tourmaline, Garnet, Amethyst, Citrine, Ametrine, Fire Opal, Rock Crystal and Rutilated Quartz are mainly used.

Jutta Munsteiner produces innovative and unique jewellery in gold and platinum using the signature cuts of Bernd, Tom and Philipp Munsteiner. Bernd Munsteiner was the first contemporary artist to go off in search of the aura of the crystal. For more than 58 years, he has been turning various gemstones into images, object d’art and sculptures.

Tom Munsteiner’s cutting artistry broke with the traditional concept of the facetted gemstone not only because of the size of the stones used. Instead his work must be interpreted as a creative reflections of the essence of the crystal and his message to the world, which allows a profound insight into the substance of the crystal and reveals its poetic nature.

Philipp, Bernd’s grandson, and Tom’s son, started cutting gemstones with his grandfather at a very young age. Despite his young age, he has already developed a great passion that will lead to more new cuts and art objects in the future.

Jutta maintains the necessary dialog with the gemstone objects, which leads to an artistic interpretation that is decisive for the shaping of the frames and mounts; she creates an artistic, purpose-free event from the cut crystal and its setting. In doing so, the goldsmith is inspired by the natural specifications, such as the coloring or the inclusions that nature provides. She attempts in a very sensitive manner to explore very cautiously the feelings which jewellery could provoke in the sophisticated customer who lives in the present. In this way, personal, unique and wonderful works of art and jewelry are created.
